Some cake updates

We're a bit behind on updating the blog. I thought I'd post the past couple of cakes I have made. I'm hoping to do something special for my mom in February, so hopefully I'll be posting that also. Tomorrow I go in for cataract surgery (left eye), so I'm beginning my "taking it easy" projects already (by updating the blog). :)

Here is the little bear cake I made for Christmas. Unfortunately, Landon was sick and no one really ate much and didn't stay long, so it was untouched. Russ and I gave it to the neighbors who have three young boys. They LOVED it!

Recently I was approached by a lady at church who had heard about my cake making skills. She asked that I make a special pig cake for her daughter's first birthday party. There is a "character" called Olivia the pig. Tricia's daughter's name is Olivia. So the theme was to dress Olivia in the same outfit as "Olivia the pig", have a real live pig at the party, and a pig cake, etc. So it turned out really well. I even covered the base board with red and white fondant to match the dress. And yes, I had to make the legs, hooves, eyes, ears, snout, necklace, etc. Russ gave me the suggestion to make the boarder around it's neck be more like a necklace. :) So the pictures below show the doll, the little girl, the pig, my cake, etc.
