Strut & Stuff = A Whole LOT of FUN!

Well, the weather was unmerciful today (90 and very humid) but there was hardly a cloud in the sky and we had a 10 car turnout to the Red Robin in Milford again.



We had 4 Porsche's (2 Boxster S, 1 911 C2, 1 911 Turbo), 1 Lamborghini Gallardo, 1 Viper, 1 Ferrari 430, 1 Corvette C5/C6 (not sure), 1 Lotus Exige S, and 1 Subaru WRX show up today. It was awesome. We had a large number of people just driving into the RR and driving around the cars and taking photos. A few stopped to talk (it's always fun to talk to car people).



We drove out along the Ohio River again along with several other roads and went through a few small towns where we had a number of young boys check out the group. One car of four teenagers who were slightly ahead of us, pulled over so they could watch the entire "parade" go by.

Another two boys, one of whom got so awe struck, that he almost walked out into a busy intersection without looking. Fortunately his buddy yelled at him in time.









We stopped along the Ohio River and got some soft serve ice cream and had a nice breeze (although it melted in record time) while we sat, ate and talked. We then returned home via a different route through the back roads of Ohio.

Everyone had a great time, especially a new person to our group (Bruce) who had never had a chance to "really" drive his 911 the way it was meant to be driven! He left with a HUGE smile on his face.

Hopefully we will be able to do this again this summer / fall.

Cherokee Lake with the family

Unfortunately I had to make a sad trip to Tennessee this past weekend because my aunt, Anne Parks, passed away unexpectedly. I attended the funeral on Friday along with mom, Gene, and David.

On Saturday, mom and Gene went to Cades Cove to listen to the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra play. I could have gone there, but David and the girls invited me to spend the day with them. Since I'll be seeing mom and Gene in the next few days on our trip to Maine (Russ is staying home), I chose to spend the day with David and his family.

We didn't get to the lake until 4:00, but we still had fun. Some friends of David's joined us at dinner time (they bought the pizza), and mom and Gene joined us around 8:00 p.m. I brought a birthday cake for David and we celebrated his "second" birthday. Since his birthday is at Christmas, I chose a second birthday for David so that he wouldn't get overlooked. Unfortunately when I chose the date many moons ago, I didn't realize that it usually falls on Father's Day weekend (June 15th), but luckily not this year!

Landscaping project

I know that Russ said he would post this, but since I took the pictures (and have a bit more time than he does), I decided to do the posting. (Some of the pictures were shot before the mulch was added, plus I added a picture of my little garden of tomatoes and peppers.) :)

We had two sugar maples delivered (and planted) for us. It will be awhile before they do us any good, but they're pretty in the meantime. We had absolutely no plants in the back of the house, so you will see that we now have quite a few!! I dug all the holes for the plants (except for the two trees), so I sure got my exercise! We then did a lot of digging to prepare for mulch, and then myself, Russ, and Kyle did the mulching. I also got three planters (one for the window of the deck wall and the two whiskey barrel planters for either side of the bench) and put some annuals in those. I then moved the old bench up from its obscure location to the area you see in the pictures. I think it definitely looks better in our backyard now. Note that the flowers in the window box are "orange crush and white" - GO VOLS!!!

Red Robin 2009 Part 1

Well, a few weeks ago we had an impromptu get together of a few cars at the Milford Red Robin and took a nice ride out in the country and allowed the cars to stretch their legs a wee bit. ;-)

The weather turned out really well except for a small sprinkle down by the Ohio River. We even got to eat outside for a change (not too hot or humid with a nice breeze).

So I thought I'd post just a few pictures before the next get together on June 20th which should have a few more cars and hopefully the weather will cooperate for us again.
